Galway provides written procedures for assembly and disassembly with your pump or mixer. An excerpt of our 400 Series Pump Disassembly procedure (Model W Drive) is provided here to demonstrate the ease with which our pumps may be serviced.

400
SERIES DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE Pump part suffix numbers are in parenthesis (#) |
| 1 | ![]() |
Pump disassembly begins at the strainer housing (#429). Only simple hand tools and a strap wrench are required! |
| 2 | ![]() |
Unthread and remove the Strainer from the bottom of the pump. This is a left hand thread. |
| 3 | ![]() |
Remove the strainer (#436) and strainer housing (#429). The next sequence unthreads the pump shaft from the motor shaft. |
| 4 | ![]() |
It is necessary to prevent the pump shaft (#418) from rotating. You will need the 7/32" wrench supplied with your 400 Series Pump or a needle nose pliers. |
| 5 | ![]() |
Insert the wrench or pliers through the disassembly slot in the motor mount (#413). |
| 6 | ![]() |
Unthread the motor shaft (#098) from the pump shaft by placing a small wrench on the fan through the motor bottom. Rotate the motor shaft to unthread the shafts. This is a right hand thread. |
| 7 | ![]() |
Once the shafts are free turning, continue to hold the motor shaft and rotate the pump shaft using the impellers. Pull the impellers and shaft from the pump. Be careful not to bend the shaft. |
| 8 | ![]() |
Disconnect the pump and motor with a strap wrench at the coupling. This is a left-hand thread. |
| 9 | ![]() |
Continue to unthread by hand. |
| 10 | ![]() |
Remove the motor taking care not to damage the coupling threads. It is not necessary to remove the motor coupling to service our pumps. |
| 11 | ![]() |
The following steps disassemble the pump. Start at the suction end of the pump. |
| 12 | ![]() |
To remove the lower and inner tubes, unthread the lower tube (#438) from the suction tube. Note: This is a left-hand thread. |
| 13 | ![]() |
Withdraw the lower tube (#438) and the inner tube (#440) from the pump. |
| 14 | ![]() |
Pull out the inner tube (#440) completely. Inspect the inner tube and shaft bushings for wear and foreign material. |
| 15 | ![]() |
Remove the pump discharge cap (#442). A flathead screwdriver may be used to pry the cap from the discharge tube (#430). Take care not to damage the o-ring. |
| 16 | ![]() |
Remove the discharge cap (#442). Inspect the o-ring (#442R) for wear and replace if necessary. |
| 17 | ![]() |
Obtain the service kit (parts #431 and #440). This is it. Two parts make this pump as good as new and you can't beat the price. |
| 18 | ![]() |
Unthread the lower bushing (#431), this is a wear item. Remove and replace the bushing. |
| 19 | ![]() |
Unthread the inner tube from the shaft guide tube coupler (#441). Remove and replace the inner tube. You're done and assembly is just the opposite of this procedure. |
| 20 | ![]() |
At this point, you may want to service your drive. We carry a complete inventory of service kits for each drive. |
